.Sculpture of James Lowther

This sculpture is of Sir James Lowther on the woodland path to Kells off Rosemary lane. It is at the end of what was Middle Row of 'Newhouses', originally built by Sir James for the miners as modern houses for his workforce. Eventually they became notorious slums which were knocked down in the middle of the 20th century. The remains of some of the houses can still be seen.
