The spiral staircase is at the back of the Market Hall in the middle of the Market Place in Whitehaven. The building currently houses the Whitehaven Tourist Information and is a centre for community projects. A Victorian building of the 1880's it originally had an assembly room upstairs whilst selling market produce downstairs. It has since had numerous uses including cinema, billiard hall, dole office and museum.
