Fox Lane

Fox lane from Scotch street

Fox lane is interesting only for its cunning nature, like that of its namesake. It runs for a short distance from Scotch Street beside Union Hall and appears to turn into Johns Lane. But actually it dives beneath Dixons store and emerges on the other side where it meets up with Queen Street. The only historical note is that tucked away in the corner at this end is a large warehouse, which looks undisturbed since the time when Whitehaven had dozens of such buildings attached to every business and stocked with goods freshly imported from around the world.
